Shaping the Digital Society — Politics for a Networked World

The future of the Internet is the future of our societies. At the first Green Congress on Internet politics we are going to discuss the central issues on free and equal access, on civil and human rights, Green IT, gender equality and justice between the generations, data privacy and consumer protection on the net. How can we shape the digital society? Which new forms of digital participation can be used for the good of democracy? And what constitutes an internet which is worth living in and for?

Ensuring Equal Access and Participation

The free and equal access to the Internet has become part of freedom of opinion and the pursuit of. Yet we must still overcome digital divides along information literacy, age and gender, region, country, continent, available technologies and degrees of accessibility. How can we ensure just participation for everyone?

New Concepts for a Fair Internet

New ideas are needed to adopt data privacy and consumer protection to the new social realities the networked computers created. For an Internet worth living we need more and more ecologically friendly IT technologies. So what chances does Green IT create for more sustainability?

More Openness and Transparency

Green internet politics stands up for all citizens—whether you are a “digital immigrant” or a “digital native”, internet activist, data privacy advocate, civil rights supporter, academic, journalist, artist, developer, editor or IT company? Our agenda is built on openness and participation. We support free software, the Creative Commons, free knowledge, Open Access and the Open Data initiatives on the move. What can we learn from these initiatives for the transparency of the state, for a truly democratic “Open Government”?

Let’s Create a Green Start up Culture

We the Greens encourage the actors of the Internet driven economy, including developers and musicians as well as journalists and designers. Our congress strives for new perspectives for the creative economies that are up to the changes of a digital media age. What is the basis for a new kind of copyright or copyleft?

We the Greens stand for politics with and for the Internet: For civil liberties, to strengthen the basic rights, human dignity and against Internet Blocking, data retention and the annihilation of net neutrality. We happily invite you to join the movement. Let us shape the digital society together!
